About Me

I am a perfectionist. That is why I operate in my own facility, Tranquillity Clinic, with my own staff! I contronl my environment and the people I work with so that I know that my patients will receive the best possible care that they can. Without my dedicated staff, who will look after you as well as they look after me, I am nothing, so have a look at them first. I have all the right credentials as you will see below.

I am a fully qualified specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon, the equivalent of board certified. I am a member of or registered with the following professional bodies:

• Registered as a specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
• Member of the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa
• Member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons
• Member of the South African Medical Association
• President of the South African Cleft Lip and Palate Society

I graduated from medical school in 1985 and attained my fellowship in Plastic Surgery in 1997. I have been practicing Plastic Surgery since 1994 and have been in my own private practice since 1998. I trained at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. I have maintained links with the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Cape Town and I am actively involved in teaching, training and research. I have published and presented both locally and internationally on a variety of aspects of plastic surgery. Although the main emphasis of my private practice is on cosmetic surgery, I head the Cleft Lip and Palate Unit at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town.

My personal philosophy with regard to cosmetic surgery is that procedures should be safe, simple and effective. For this reason I prefer to confine myself to conventional tried-and-tested operations. I also believe that one must progress with the times and offer currently accepted and modern solutions. As a surgeon I tend to be relatively conservative and shy away from what I feel is excessive surgery. Often less is more.

My wife Di has been a source of inspiration for many years. We have a son Noah, and a daughter Eve. Noah was born with a Stahl's ear, an unusual congenital ear deformity. To see how I corrected this without surgery, click here.

Apart from plastic surgery, I enjoy Cape Town's natural surroundings. When I am not working, I can be found on the sea or the mountain or spending time with my family and friends.
